Rabbi Dovid Bendory is the founder and executive director of Pidyon, a Torah-based educational organization dedicated to infusing Jewish souls with spirituality and meaning. He currently teaches The Kosher Kitchen for the Shema Yisrael Torah Network, weekly classes in Sefer HaChinuch and Jewish Philosophy, and a daily halacha at the Wall Street Synagogue in downtown Manhattan. Rav Dovid has previously taught Talmud, Hebrew, Tefilla (Prayer), Kashrus, Shabbos, and Jewish History.
Rav Dovid has semicha in Issur v'Heter (Kashrus) from Rabbi Daniel Channen, Rav Zalman Nechimia Goldberg (Av Beis Din Yerushalayim), and Rav Gedalia Dov Schwartz (Av Beis Din D'America), in Hilchos Shabbos from Rav Dovid Ostroff and Rav Zalman Nechimia Goldberg, and in Hilchos Aveilus from Rav Yitzchak Tzvi Oshinsky (Av Beis Din Haifa). Rav Dovid is a member of the Young Israel Council of Rabbis and the Agudas HaRabbonim / Union of Orthodox Rabbis of the United States and Canada.
Renowned for his dynamic and inspirational teaching, Rav Dovid's classes and seminars are enjoyed by Jews of various backgrounds and levels of observance. For those not yet Torah observant, he offers gentle guidance toward Torah and mitzvot; for those already observant, he offers inspiring leadership and practical halachic advice. His approach to education and outreach is simple: if introduced to the beauty and truth of Torah, Jews will strive to acquire Torah on their own. His role as rabbi is simply to serve as a guide on the path of spiritual development.
